The Caracal has eaten the soft meat at the rear end of the Nyala. Some people say that this is wastage by the Caracal. What is important to realise is that other animals can utilise the kill for example brown hyenas, jackal and smaller scavengers. As it is important not to take dead wood out of the veld so that nutrients can go through the "recycling" process it is important to leave kills like this in the veld. Maybe it will help to prevent the destruction of our vulture population in a natural way.
